Bills Ravens Preview; Playoffs Are In The Air

Sunday’s match up at New Era field between your Buffalo Bills and the Baltimore Ravens is the game of the week. Two second year quarterbacks making names for themselves, and two of the best defenses in the NFL. Fans in Buffalo are smelling the playoffs, and with Bills playoff tickets going on sale today, a win on Sunday will send this city into pandemonium!

Lamar Jackson is the clear front runner for this season’s MVP award and rightfully so. Last season the Ravens built their offense around his legs and the running attack. In 2019, John Harbaugh and company took off the training wheels and have let Jackson throw the ball, proving many doubters wrong. Lamar has already double his passing yards, totaling 2,532 through just 12 games, and 25 touchdown passes. The sky is the limit for the former Louisville Cardinal. It doesn’t hurt when you have solid offensive weapons surrounding you, with the likes of Mark Ingram, Willie Snead, and Hollywood Brown.

Defensively, the Ravens are amongst the top defenses per usual. They are allowing just over 18 points per game, and 323 total yards whcih ranks them 9th. Outside linebacker leads their team in sacks with 7 on the season. It is the Ravens secondary that causes most of their opponents issues. The recent addition of Marcus Peters to go along with vet Earl Thomas, and Jimmy Smith leaves DC Don Martindale in a good spot.

Josh Allen had his best game as a Buffalo Bill on Thanksgiving against the Cowboys. Number 17 completed 79.17% of his passes, his highest total of 2019. His throws were just on the money, as he connected on critical third downs, my favorite one being his throw from the end zone to Cole Beasley.

Sunday will be a HUGE test for Allen, going up against the best defensive/team he has seen this season. I am curious to see what McDermott and Daboll have schemed up.

On the defensive side of the ball for the Bills, they have been lights out, pretty much only allowing 7 points on the Cowboys opening drive. That second TD was in prevent defense and the game was pretty much a wrap. Tre White is showing why he is one of the best defensive backs in the league, and the front four have been playing extremely well. Shaq Lawson is finally producing, and the line backing core are everywhere on the field.

Can you imagine if this game comes down to the field goal kickers? The Ravens have the best in the game in Justin Tucker, while we all know about Stephen Hauschka.

My prediction for Sunday is Ravens 27 Bills 21. Let us not hang our heads though. Use this game as a learning tool, for a possible rematch in the playoffs.
